When the critic chooses to become a smuggler, a hack, a cook, or an artist, it's maybe because criticism as such remains tied to an outmoded social relation. Sometimes we are also remember the option of the strike - as cooperative way out of demand for cooperation, a negative way of re-appropriating post-Fordist relaity and its productive, social networks, and of turning these against themselves in order to open up a new chance for something like criticism. This is the paradox of criticism that works as a critical act? What does that really mean? Does it mean doing nothing, or doing everything else but criticism? The danger of jobless criticism, just like joblessness in the city, is that it might actually mean working all the time.
- John Kelsey, "The Hack"
