just know the deadline for application of the post opening at Parasite since Tobias will leave has just ended. I originally thought of writing in an application, as I did with the ps publication, not in hope of really getting the post, but making a counter proposal.

Nevertheless, let me spell it out here while it is still in my mind.

My idea is that,

Para/Site should

(1) close down its space,

(2) disband its present board (or at least request the board to step away from making any more curatorial decision), and

(3) entrust its power to a working committe of curators and artists that curates, who are willing to take up time to care about a new possible future model for Para/Site, and committed to art of Hong Kong,

and allows them to discuss, debate and execute their ideas under the scrunity of one another in a totally transparent setting that all art workers of the community could participate.

As my counter proposal before, I am jokingly serious.

I think Tobias has tried out his way to run Para/Site, with a strategy that partially is also what I do wish to see could happen, but my impression is that such a formula has proved to be not effective in the Hong Kong context (which despite being stubborn, one could also not argue otherwise), and we have to tackle the why seriously. The present board, I believed, has failed to see that, and think only of a replacement over the occassion.

For me, I think only with a move as throughly radical as above, could Para/Site coped with the meaningful direction as happening in contemporary art, becoming once more an inspirational institution in local, regional and global terms. Otherwise it could easily be nothing compare with say the Vitamin Artspace also located in the PRD.

The forming of a sense of participatory community,

the discussion atmosphere and critical milieu in within the local arts circle, is what I foremost concern here and think all resources in the circle should help foster .

Be as global as you like, but to be an interesting case for the global community, please first demonstrate that you are a successful local organization. If you are wanna be just another global player (with no local committment), be my guest and move on. (Even Tobias is much more than that.)
